Learning To Live On A Single Income / Weekly Deals 6/24-6/30/2010

There are many reasons why all of us should learn to live on one income. I know that sounds almost impossible to many of us. It certainly did to my husband and I when we first started planning for our family. But, even if you have two solid incomes and seemingly no reason to cut corners, it’s still a wise thing to do for many reasons.

Many people have been hit hard by the current recession – lost jobs, rising expenses, etc. Now, with the oil spill in the Gulf, there could be potentially disastrous financial consequences for many more. And we’ve all seen what can happen in the event of a catastrophic natural disaster. If that still doesn’t hit home to you, what about even more unexpected circumstances such as the death of a spouse, or divorce? Financial stress is one of the biggest factors in the divorce rate in our nation. Learning to live on one income will relieve a great deal of stress.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be writing articles on how to get to the point of living on one income. If you have two solid incomes, that’s terrific! But a little planning and preparation for what may come would still be a very wise decision.

To get started, get your budget put together! For more information on budgeting, please read Importance of Budgeting
